Recel and Bryan's Wedding - 9.15.07

As I mentioned in their engagement shoot post, I just LOVE this couple! I have never photographed at the Crystal Cathedral before and it was most definitely a sight to behold. Recel looked amazing and Bryan was dashing. Bryan even learned how to play guitar for the wedding to serenade his wife. How romantic!! Heather 2nd shot for me and it was great to see her again. It had been a while with the baby and all. Anyway, it's late and I have two weddings this weekend coming up so ENJOY!

Chrissy and Smiley - 9.08.07

I feel so honored to have photographed Christine (aka Chrissy) and Michael (aka Smiley's) wedding. Perhaps booking a wedding in Santa Barbara when I have a 2 1/2 month old was not the smartest idea in the world....(How could have possibly known, I mean, I booked the wedding last January!) Regardless, we worked out the logistics and I dragged the family up there with me and made it a vacation. We actually had so much fun we stayed an extra day. Oh, and I'm officially back to work now!

O.K., so back to the wedding. I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Christine and Smiley before they booked (I have no idea how they found me) but I knew from the way she filled in her contract that she was cool. When we finally touched base by phone and she told me about all the cute details of this fabulous day, I couldn't have imagined what I was in for - true wedding day Americana kitch - Elvis impersonator and all!! Smiley was totally anti-formal portraits (any and all) so I had to make sure I could get romantic stuff on the fly. With these two that was not difficult as they are so in love and so adorable together. I could go on and on but I just LOVED Chrissy's dress, her table arrrangements, the cake, the cupcakes....and they guests were a blast as well. I just so appreciate when people make their wedding their own! Blah, blah, blah....the photos speak for themselves!!!

Jennifer and Guy's Engagement Shoot

I have the pleasure of photographing Jennifer and Guy's wedding in October and I am SO PSYCHED. They are such a fun couple and their wedding sounds like it's going to be a blast. Guy has tons of family coming over from Israel so I'm anticipating a fabulous hoora! We decided to go to Union station, a venue I used to shoot at all the time but haven't for a while. Unfortunately, it was like 102 degrees outside and even hotter in the station. Jennifer and Guy are real sports! It was great to spend time with them and I can't wait for the wedding!

Amanda and Lucas's Wedding - 8.11.07

Amanda and Lucas's wedding looked like a traditional wedding from the outside but on the inside it was full of glamour and soul. Amanda is a sweetheart and SO expressive and photogenic, it was a blast to photograph her. They got married at a church not more than 5 minutes from my house - got to LOVE that! The best was when the maid of honor forgot to bring down the rings from the dressing room! Amanda, Lucas and all of their guests really had a laugh about it as Amanda's mother ran up there to get them. You see, this is what I am always telling my nervous brides - it's the little things that might go wrong that make your wedding memorable! I mean, this was really funny and obviously the bride and groom had a big laugh about it (frame 6). Amanda's father performed both at the church and at the reception and he absolutely brought the house down. Amanda must come from a family of musicians as I ran into her cousin Andrew, who produced a bunch of songs with me when I was on Dreamworks. It was a pleasure to see him and all the guests have a blast!

Drake

10 month's later and boy has Drake grown! I photographed Drake for the first time last October on the very day that my pregnancy test was positive so his photo shoots will always be super special to me! It was lovely to see Peter, Mark and Drake again. For those of you who are new to my blog, Drake and Pete had Drake with a surrogate in Russia. And boy, did they luck out! Drake is simply a beautiful, charming and very photogenic boy! Isn't he cute?

Recel and Bryan's Engagement Shoot

You know, as many times as I've photographed at Disney Hall, I never get sick of it. It's just such an incredible place to photograph. The light hits the building in such interesting ways at every different angle and it's unique and beautiful at each hour of the day. I guess that is what photography is all about, right? Anyway, I fell in love with Recel and Bryan at our first meeting and I am so honored to be photographing their wedding. They are so cute, sweet and adorable and we had a blast! Bryan took Recel to the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion on their first date so we had to get a couple of pix with the fountain. Sorry Recel and Bryan that you got a little wet!

Parris Family Photo Shoot!

What a fun photo shoot! I photographed Ashley and Alex's wedding in May and her mom wanted me to do a family portrait before her youngest sons went back to college this fall. We opted for the campus at Pepperdine as Carrol (mom) is a trustee and I mean, it's just so gorgeous there. Anyway, I had this idea that it would be fun to have them on a couch in the middle of this field. Well, the couch thing turned out to be a major drama....but it worked out in the end and it was really funny having it be delivered.

The Parris family was a little wild, unruly and VERY fun, so I just tried to capture that- and take a couple of standard portaits in between the goofing around!! I think the largest family group I ever shot was 5 so this was challanging and very inspirational. And what a great looking family!

Gaby and JR, The Roosevelt Hotel

This was my first wedding away from my little one, but it couldn't have been a better one! Gaby and JR got married at the Roosevelt Hotel and their wedding was simply gorgeous. Gaby is the sister of Missy, whose wedding I photographed at the beginning of 2006, and it was wonderful to see their family again as well as Jennifer and Maurice (whose wedding was March 31st, 2006) who are also friends. Kimery Sherwood of Kimery Events was the coordinator and it's always a pleasure to work with her (she keeps me on schedule!!!) and GD Designs did the flowers - AMAZING! Both Gaby and JR were really great to work with and I am thrilled with some of their portraits. My parents actually stayed at the Roosevelt Hotel the last time they came to town and back then I was walking around the hotel, looking at backdrops. I knew I would do something with that funky wallpaper. Yay! This was a Jewish wedding made ever more special by the fact that JR had just converted! I was pretty floored by how absolutely excited and in love these two are and there vows to each other during the ceremony were hilarious. The evening was topped off by the band, who are friends of the couple and learned the Hora especially for the occasion. And Gaby's friends and family can sure do a Hora!!!!

More Tessy

I am not going to bore everyone with photos of my little one everyday but people have been bugging me about it so here are some more. To be totally honest, I am so overwhelmed with love for this being that it's almost too much to photograph her. She changes so much everyday and I often I feel as though I couldn't possibly capture her the way that my eyes see her. It's difficult to explain but I'm sure you get the sentiment... Regardless, here are some that I think capture her funny little personality. She is a ham!

Sun and Becky's Engagement Shoot

Well, I was already booked for Sun and Becky's wedding date, but I was so thrilled when they contacted me to do their engagement shoot. It was my first time shooting since having the baby and wow, I can't tell you how great it is to shoot without a huge belly! Becky had mentioned that she wanted to take some photos of her and Sun on their skateboards, and, you know how I love that shit!! I was also incredibly psyched when I showed up the Karma Coffeehouse in Hollywood to find Sun and Becky in bright red and yellow. What a great palate to work with! We just ran around the area and had a great time. Have an awesome wedding Becky and Sun!!!

My Love Tess!

About an hour after she was born (Yes, the Cedar Sinai hat!)
She sleeps a whole lot!

Her first sponge bath!

Hey Everybody,

Tess Monet Sloan was born on June 27th, 2007 - her due date!! She is a very punctual child. She was born 7 pounds, 1 ounce and 20 inches long. I'm madly in love! She eats VERY well and has a very good disposition. We are so blessed!

I just want to thank everyone who has been emailing to find out about her arrival. We are held up in the house right now but will be venturing out soon. Here are just some casual photos. I've been a little too sleep deprived to do a "proper" photo shoot but that should happen this week. And again, I want to thank all my clients for your support and patience during this crazy time. I love you all!

Ashley and Alex, 5.25.07

Ashley and Alex are one of those couples that are disgustingly perfect! They are both very successful attorney's, they are both totally gorgeous and they are just about the nicest people you will ever meet! Don't worry, I'm not the only person who feels this way - it was the theme of the toasts! Ashley and Alex also had a small, intimate wedding at the Pepperdine Chapel in Malibu and the reception was at Geoffrey's. I really had an amazing time photographing this wedding. Both Ashley and Alex's families were so sweet and Ashley and Alex were just great models. I think that photo of Ashley in the red flowers is one of my favorites of this year! Doesn't it look like a 70's album cover? Also, when Ashley met with me, she was saying "Oh, I have no artistic ability at all". Totally not true! All the little details from the flower arrangements to the table settings to her dress and accessories were just lovely and in great taste! Ashley, you are too modest!

Jessica and Christian, 5.20.07

Jessica and Christian are totally cool. They got married at the Oviatt Penthouse (one of my favorite venues) and they had a super hip, intimate wedding ceremony. When we first met, we realized that we had all lived in Bloomington, Indiana at one time (they went to school there, I fell in love!). Jessica mentioned to me on the phone before the wedding that photos of the food were really important to her. Her coordinator, Courtney from Joyful Weddings and Events, told me that day that she actually has a food blog! How cool. Of course, the food was AMAZING. She had really funky appetizers, and a FABULOUS hamburger bar and the dessert table speaks for itself! Anyway, Derek and I had a great time photographing this wedding as both Jessica and Christian and their families are so cool. And I have to mention - I was obsessed the whole day with Christian's IPOD playlist.
Thank you, Christian, for making me a copy of it. A lot of those songs will be on the playlist for the birth!
